Before a claim is published, the source it relies on is opened and read to confirm it says what the guide says it does. Sources are linked in the text, next to the claim they support, and listed again at the end of each guide, so every important point can be checked.
Figures are given as the source gives them. When a number was measured in another species, usually dogs, the guide says so. Where the evidence is thin or disputed, the guide says that too, rather than smoothing it into a tidier answer.
Drafts may be prepared with the help of software, including AI writing tools. Nothing is published until its facts have been checked against the sources it links to, and the founder is responsible for every page.
Every calculator and tracker names the formula or guideline behind it, and its results are estimates to discuss with your vet.
Each guide shows when it was published and, if it has changed since, when it was last updated. The updated date moves only when the content substantially changes, such as new sources, corrected facts or a new section, never for a cosmetic edit.
If something on PurrQuery is wrong, please tell us through the contact page. Corrections go to the front of the queue, and a corrected guide shows its new updated date.
